DS, sorry but i wasnt expecting this from you, maybe from everyone else but not from you.

Poles can make... 50 teams.. czes maybe 30.. usa 10, brasil 5 but... FINLAND should have only 1 team since "its the best roster" and all the others that werent picked cant try ? :D

Maybe if they win, you will have more respect for the rest of your own .FI community.

Rox, remember we only allow more than one team from each country, because "first to sign up takes the spot" is not an acceptable selection method. It's not like we approve other countries' high team numbers. The Preliminary tournaments are actually meant as a last resort if nothing else worked. But to me it seems that some people just sign up for the sake/fun of it and that's a trend that is rather troubling as it's just going to slow down the SWC.

I cant judge about this very team Finland here though, because it seems to have some potential at least, not like some Team Hawaiis that applied for the USA etc.

i know that. all teams should talk before preliminary rounds to check which teams will play and who will merge, etc.

what i said was: "why do you bother" or "realistic" is not a good point to say: "you cant win, you cant join, you will fail, you dont diserve to join our country national team".

Thing is, as far as I know no one from this team made any kind of effort to get into the other team so yeah, it's pretty dumb to just create another team out of blue in my opinion, it's exactly the kind of thing Poland does. Usually team Finland has had tryouts for people willing to join and even though it wasn't that organized this time, it never hurts to ask. That's my problem here, not to mention the fact that Jopez himself thinks they don't really stand a chance based on what he said Pilli when he asked him to join. So yeah, I don't think it's disrespectful to dislike how they handled this second team Finland. It's true that the other team doesn't have captain this time around so no one is organizing any tryouts but for example, LLSNEN asked me if he could get into the team, I told others and he got in. Maybe the others think they wouldn't make it and didn't even bother to ask? And if they think they aren't good enough, this team is all the more pointless.

I'm 99% sure that no one in this team is actually expecting to beat the other Finland but just joined for fun. I mean, there's always the chance of it happening buuuuuuuuut...

I believe countries should organize one team and stick with the best players, and it's not usually that difficult to select a proper team to represent your country. I'm not okay with Poland having so many teams but unfortunately it can't be helped. And I also meant no disrespect to the players here, I think Jopez is a very cool guy and I have no problems with any of the players here so don't misunderstand me.

Well at least there were no announcement about team finland recruiting, not this year and neather there were last year. 2007 people could have had tryout to team finland it was told in same day they had them. Too bad i had a football match to play and couldnt join them, so good bye tryouts for 2 years?

I also got a reply that "Team Finland has enough good players, we don't take anyone else".
The only reason I'm doing this is that the Team Finland is now built up by few the most known finnish players and is created in a quite arbitrary way. I used to like the tryouting way a lot with captains I respected, unlike now.

Also, this signup can make the rest of finnish community notice how ridiculously the national team was organized this year.

And what if we actually won..?

I did ask you about it before Team Finland signed up and you never gave me a response about it.

If you did ask someone, then my bad. I don't think anyone mentioned that on the channel or at least I wasn't around then, so it's possible that someone just decided this is the team and that's it. If that's the case, it's unfortunate and I have to apologize because then your team is justified by my terms.

I definitely agree that having tryouts was the way to go. It was more work for the captain but everyone deserves a chance, especially when many players base their opinions on fame, prejudices and impressions they have gotten a long time ago. Unfortunately it seems like no one's up for the task this time around. Next year we should try to ensure that everyone will have a chance to join and I suppose Fawkes was right when he told me that captain is needed because otherwise things will never be organized enough.

I did ask you about it before Team Finland signed up and you never gave me a response about it.

If you did, then I have completely missed it. Did you ask in a channel or in private? If I didn't respond, then that means I haven't seen it. It's probably better to ask me when I'm around and talking because sometimes I'm away for days and when I get back, I don't really have the motivation to go through the 30+ pm's I have gotten on IRC. You could have asked someone else too (of course you didn't know who were going to in the team at that point but you can still ask some other prominent members) and I would have just forwarded your message anyway since I knew I wasn't going to take part in SWC this year and it's not my decision who gets to join.

Anyway, good luck with your team.

I actually asked in SCTFL admin channel when you were there, I did express you my interest that I would like to be in it. Sudden kaboom, a week later nothing has been told to me and Team Finland has signed up.

Edit: Also you never told me who was organizing the team and where.
